We went with friends to the Christmas festive event. We were all disappointed overall, we thought the choir singers (3) were pretty average and thought the BCM would have put on a bigger and better choir and music performances. The place was absolutely packed and it was a long wait for everything, including the pub which was cramped with very few tables. There were a lot of the homes and attractions closed up and the overall lighting (trees etc) for Christmas was a pretty sad effort. The two fish and chips shops had absolutely crazy queues, of about 45 minutes waits or more, not even worth it. I think it could have been far more magical and sublime, but it wasn’t. For the cost of the tickets in seemed poor value for money. Probably wouldn’t recommend or do it again.less

Too spread out, not impressed with new buildings, music could have been more localized, hi prices 3.75 for a bag of ordinary chips, not!! Beef fstless

Having attended about 10 yrs ago I knew that this could be very special. It no longer is.! There is barely any effort put in to making it a special Christmas event as in previous years. Two ladies in period costume singing carols, a Santa and Mrs.Clause driving around in a period car waving at people and Christmas songs in the workers institute. This really was one of those occasions when an attraction ‘cashes in on the season’ and makes little effort. What has happened to this venue at Christmas? As always buying food here is a long arduous task which most give up on with only a few food outlets. This has to be the least Christmas type of event we have ever attended. I wish we had just visited during the day instead. A really poor event which the organisers can surely not feel happy to be associated with.! This lack of effort seems to be recurring theme in recent years. I really feel it was a huge waste of money… and this from someone who rarely feels the need to criticise preferring to put such disappointments down to experience. Seriously.. don’t waste your money on next years event unless they advertise vast improvements…. Go for a visit in daylight instead as the museum and venue are well worth a visit..less

Brilliant day out, far better than I expected it to be, we got a 12 month pass for the ticket price and we will definitely go back. Staff working within the actual sight were amazing and obviously very passionate about their job especially a lovely lady who chatted away to us on a shop that would have sold washing items and a beetle trap… please giver her a wonderful pat on the back she is simply wonderful and worth her weight in gold.less
We took our 2 grandchildren ages 4 & 5 to this event, we had a great time. It was very interesting walking through the town of old shops & businesses ???? Santa was great and they each had a wooden toy gift (they both got the same toy !) We ate chips from the chip shop, the old fashioned way, out of newspaper. We took our own bread & butter, the other visitors were a little jealous ????Just a tip if you go to the chippy, take your own ketchup (they didn't have ketchup back in the day ????) I've given 4 stars because we pre warned BCM that we were visiting with 2 vegan children. When we got to the post office the children were given a chocolate ???? coin ???? our 2 were given a sweet from a Halloween bag of sweets ???? Our grandson was very upset, he didn't have a coin. I don't think it would have hurt the BCM to have given them a vegan chocolate coin each !!less
